I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks to those in the EVE community that have reached out to welcome me.
The metagame and community surrounding EVE are truly legendary. The epic tales of war and empire, corporate crimes, espionage, wealth and ruin have fascinated me over the years, even as someone who found the game itself esoteric and inaccessible.
Most of the uninitiated think of this game as a cold and cruel universe, where violence and treachery lurk around every corner of space — and it certainly is that. I think what people talk about less, at least from an outsider’s perspective, is how welcoming and helpful the community can be to new players. Since firing up this account and joining the #TweetFleet, I have experienced several unsolicited acts of kindness. Players have gone out of their way to offer some friendly advice, or a helpful link, or even just a welcome and word of encouragement. I even received a sizable (at least from my perspective) financial donation from a generous player, which has provided me with a critical boost in my career as a young explorer (more on that in a future post).
All of these small kindnesses have made for a player-created newbie experience that outshines even the in-game accessibility changes (which are also pretty badass).
None of this will be lost on me. as continue to make my way in EVE. I’m looking forward to getting the chance to give back to future newbros, who find themselves in my position. Haley Joel Osment style.
Okay, enough sappy bullshit. Let’s get back to the pew!

Hey no problem sir! If you need help in any part of the game, even if it’s not something that’s in my “line of work” (ie: industrialism) just drop me an eve-mail in-game (character “Cozmik R5” in two words).
