I’m Grimm.
Welcome to Eve Blog #9001
I know it isn’t exactly a novel concept, but I have decided to record my travels as a new capsuleer in New Eden. The impetus behind this is primarily a selfish one. This isn’t my first attempt at EVE. Over the past decade, I have made a couple honest attempts to get into this game, with varying degrees of success. Past efforts have been thwarted by the legendarily draconian learning curve (much improved in recent iterations), a lack of focus, and a general disconnect from the greater EVE community. This blog is an attempt to overcome those stumbling blocks, and move forward with this game, as it enters its second decade.
So, focus — you elusive bastard.
I started this journey with only two specific goals:
- Fly Amarr
- Get “Space Rich”
I’ve already accomplished the first. After finishing the basic military career tutorial arc, I find myself in a shiny new Punisher — a fresh faced noob, full of hopes and dreams not yet crushed in the cruel vacuum of space:
Other things I’ve accomplished, thus far:
- Sorted my overview according to this guide.
- Downloaded EVEMon to get my shit sorted (Is this still the standard tool for skill planning?)
- Created a short term skillplan to fly a Coercer for beginner mission running
- Created a long term plan to fly a PvE Abaddon (subject to change)
- Downloaded EVE Refinery to get my loot situation under control
And that’s about it, at this point. I plan on finishing the Advanced Military and Exploration tutorial missions, before finding a place to call home. My general plan is to run missions, while I skillup my core competencies and continue to educate myself. Eventually, I would like to pursue a career in exploration. At some point, I will be looking for a proper corp, but I figure I should take some time to clarify my long term goals, then find an organization that will be a good fit.
I am absolutely open to advice. I’m sure I am doing something wrong. Feel free to drop a comment.
Cheers.
